Let the fabric have moisture wicking function is one of the necessary conditions for modern wear.

The function of absorbing moisture and transpiring sweat makes one feel comfortable and dry, it helps the human body to have better body control, it also helps prevent bad odors from sweat or discomfort from humidity.

There are 3 ways that fabrics can have the functions of perspiration:

1. Using breathable fibers

The fiber shape of the moisture-absorbing yarn is different from the general yarn. When viewed from the cross section, the fiber of the general yarn is round, while the moisture-absorbing yarn is special.

The cross section of the moisture wicking yarn for each brand is slightly different, some are star shaped sections and some are cross sections (see image below). The special shape is the one that it allows water to penetrate and flow between the fiber spaces.

The breathable fibers create a special section, which is why most of their origin is made of polyester or Nylon

2. Knitting organization

This method generally refers to unidirectional moisture transfer, through the fiber of the fabric it achieves the effect of moisture absorption and will force pulling it towards the outer layer of the fabric, the water will spread out because the area is enlarged, so it evaporates faster and more efficiently.

3. Finishing and processing with chemical additives.

We can add chemical additives containing hydrophilic functional molecules during the dyeing process to adhere to the surface of the yarn, so that the fabric has the function of moisture absorption and perspiration.

Fibers processed with the moisture wicking additives will be cheaper than the moisture wicking yarns, but the moisture wicking additives will be gradually removed with each wash and the moisture wicking function will be gradually removed.
